Rabi crops cannot be grown in Rainy season except sorghum, as rabi crops are not tolerant to rainwater which continues for 2 - 3 days and water logging causes rotting in them . Rabi crop requires cold weather as well as appropriate sunlight.

Rabi crops are grown in winters like wheat and gram. Therefore for germination of seeds low temperature and less water as compared to Kharif crops are required. If grown in kharif season, the seeds usually don't germinate. If they do germinate sometimes when grown in control conditions, then either plant growth is deteriorated or the fruit quality is not up to the mark.

There are some crops like maize, that can be grown in rabi, kharif and Zaid as well but the seeds are different. For eg. In Bihar and Jharkhand maize is usually grown in both seasons. Another is paddy. In areas with high rainfall like chattisgarh and coastal parts of Karnataka and kerela, paddy is grown in both reasons. This is because the paddy is acclimatised well and temperature and water conditions are almost similar in both the seasons.

hope it helps!
