KHADAR:-

The newer deposits of the flood plain are called khadar.They are low lying lands which are prone to flooding and are hence,renewed almost every year.It is suitable for agriculture as it is formed of fine silt and clay and are hence,very fertile.

BHANGAR:-

The largest part of the Northern Plain is formed of old alluvium.They lie above the flood plain and represent a terrace like feature.This part is known as bhangar.It is not suitable for agriculture.In Punjab,it is known as DHAYA.
