Personality refers to individual differences in characteristic patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving. The study of personality focuses on two broad areas: One is understanding individual differences in particular personality characteristics, such as sociability or irritability.

When people arrive at the office, they bring with them their individual traits and personalities. Regardless of a person's position or responsibilities in the workplace, personality plays a role in how a person approaches a job, completes a task and interacts with others.

The five factors Goldberg identified as primary factors of personality are:

Extroversion.

Agreeableness.

Conscientiousness.

Neuroticism.
