sound is a form of energy. it travels through waves . wave means nothing but a disturbance.. sound doesnt travels through vaccum. soumd needs medium . sound travels faster : solid > liquid > gas. and we got that when a lightning strikes first a light was seen than the sound heard because light is fasther than sound and in universe also.
