Hey there! Thanks for the awesome question!

A little correction in the transcription : " What do you understand by writ "

Writ is a inherent authority given to the court, It can be used to give orders to government regarding enforcement and protection of any laws or violation of rights.

The court can take any action by itself. In other words, The court has the Supreme right to take cognizance of a violation of fundamental rights.

It can also be referred as summons. Some of the commonly used writs are Prerogative writs , warrants , subpoenas .

In India, With accordance to Article 32 in the constitution of India, The country's highest court may issue orders or writs to protect Fundamental rights.

Hope helped!
