The sampled analog valueis converted to the nearest binary value or quantity. Thebinary value is then encoded into a code acceptable tothe digital equipments that use the data. Standardizedbinary words called BAMs (binary angularmeasurement) are used to transmit angular, range, andheight values between digital equipments in shipboardcombat direction systems. Other coding systems suchas Gray code or binary-coded decimal (BCD) are alsoused to transmit converted values
