• a an and the are called articles .

•there are two types of articles definite and indefinite

*the indefinite articles :- a and an are called as indefinite articles because they do not refer to any particular or definite person ,place or things ;as an umbrella ,a boy ,a l book .

The Definite articles :-the is called the definite articles because it always point out some particular object .example_ this is the boy who had stolen my purse

>A is used

•before a consonant_ a tiger

•also before a word beginning with A Wall but sounding like a consonant

eg:-a one rupee coin, a European and a utensil

•if sentence is sspoken empathetically

>AN is used

•before a word beginning with A vowel eg:-an Apple

•before a word beginning with A consonant but having a vowel sound eg:- an MBA , An hour , an honest man

>THE is used

•before a word denoting a particular person or a thing eg:- let's go to the cinema

•before the name of the following- sea, river, gulf,canals ,desert ,The Red Sea ,the Persian Gulf .

•before the title -the Great

•before the word denotes number, weight- cloth is sold by the metre
