Most individuals will be able to demonstrate the functioning of aspiring through the expression of one or more aspirations. However, this tells us little about the full range of the individual’s capability to aspire and constraints or oppressive roots of aspiration may not be readily explicit. Aspirations are often born out of unequal power relations that constrain humans to mould themselves in ways that suit perceived expectations of normalcy and acceptability.
