Diffusion is the movement of molecules in a fluid medium from a region of their high concentration to a region of low concentration.
Factors affecting diffusion:
Temperature; molecules with higher temperatures have a higher kinetic energy and hence move faster than molecules at low temperatures.
Concentration gradient: the higher the difference in concentration between where the molecules are diffusing from and where they are diffusing from to, determines how fast diffusion takes place.
Size of molecules: The larger the molecules, the slower the rate of diffusion while the smaller the molecules the faster the rate of diffusion.
