Dispersion of light means visible light or white light is actually made up of different colors (mainly 7 colors). Each light bends by different amount when refracted by glass prism. That's why white light splits or dispersed into different colors when it is passed through a glass prism or a lens.
In simple words dispersion means splitting of white light into 7 colors (red, orange, yellow green, blue and violet) when it is passed through a triangular prism.
