What do you understand by Equinox and Solstice? Explain.

solstice = either of the two times (21 march and 22 december ) when the sun is farthest north or south of the equator.
equinox = either of the two times in a year (21 march and 23 september ) when the sun shines vertically on the equator due to which day and night are of equal length.

When the Sun crosses the celestial Equator the situation is called Equinox.
When the Sun reaches the highest or the lowest point is called Solstice.Ex- Winter and summer solstice.
