Peninsular India is a geological term which, in shape roughly resembles an inverted triangle. It is one of the main physiographic element of India. Its origin lies in the collision of Indian and Eurasian plate around 15 million years ago:



As you can see peninsular India is a subset of the former Indian plate. If we talk about the boundaries of the Peninsular block then in the west it starts from Runn of Katcch then going parallel to Arawalis up to Delhi Ridge then going roughly parallel to ganga-yamuna river system. In the east it goes as far as Rajamahal hills and ganga delta. The other two boundaries of this triangular shaped block are the Western and the Eastern Ghats.
