percolation refers to the sepage of water in the soil
calculation of percolation rate
1. take a tube of a certain length say 10cm
2. pour water in it but ensure that no water spills out let us fill to a length say 8cm
3.leave it for a particular time period say 5minutes
4. calculate the length of water level from ground surface let us take it 4cm
5. now we have the following information with
intial water level =8cm
final water level=4cm
time taken by the water to percolate=5minutes now we can calculate the percolation rate by the formula=
(intial water level - final water level)÷time
taken by water to percolate
here in this case percolation speed=(8cm-4cm)
÷5min
=4/5cmmin^-1
hope it helps............Mark as best. ...............

Percolation rate (ml/min) = amount of water (ml) / percolation time (min).
