what do you understand by photosynthesis?

NikhitaAVS: photosynthesis is originated from photo - sunlight and synthesis - process, it means a process which happens in sunlight, the plants and some bacteria which contains chlorophyll can prepare their own food. Hence they r known as autotrophes. equation for it is carbon dioxide + water = oxygen + water + glucose

The process by which green plants prepare their food in the presence of sunlight and chlorophyll to convert carbondioxide in to energy (carbohydrates) is called photosynthesis.

EQUATION:- carbon dioxide + water in the presence of light and cholorophyll = carbohydrates + oxygen
