Polygenic inheritance occurs when one characteristic is controlled by two or more genes. Often the genes are large in quantity but small in effect. Examples of human polygenic inheritance are height, skin color, eye color and weight. Polygenes exist in other organisms, as well.

Answer:

Polygenic inheritance is the inheritance of characters which are controlled by 3 or more genes. Such characters do not have two alternative forms but are spread across a gradient.

Such characters are called polygenic trait or quantative trait.

They also take into account the influence of environment condition. In such inheritance the phenotype reflects the contribution of each allele that is the effect of each allele is additive  Hence these genes are called addtive gene or cumulative gene.

Example-

human colour (skin colour) is a polygenic trait in which dominant forms A,B and C while in recessive a, b and c
