What do you understand by resonance? What is the effect of resonance on the structure of molecule?

Resonance is the caused when the frequency of the externally applied periodic force matches with the natural frequency of the vibrating body and the body starts vibrating with an increased amplitude due to gain in energy ....due to this molecules of the body gain energy....
