Secularism means showing due respect to all the religions.

1)India is called a secular state because there is no official religion of the state.
2)No discrimination is ever made against any individual because of his or her religion.
3)All the citizens of India, forming different groups, sects, communities are free to practice any religion they like unless it is not detrimental to the peace, security and integrity of the country.

Secularism means that the country does not have any state or official religion. The country doses not have any national religion.
India is called a secular country because
1.India does not have any official religion. Just see the contrast here with some countries having their states rejions- Srilanka has Bhuddhism and Islam in Pakistan and Christianity in England
2.The constitution gives freedom to all persons freedom to profess, practice and propagate any religion.
3. Discrimination of religious grounds is prohibited by Constitution.
