Centre of gravity of a body is a point where the total weight of the body s assumed to be acting. The body, if balanced at its centre of gravity, will be in the state of eqilibrium.
The total sum of moments of the constituent particles of the body about its centre of gravity depends on the distribution of mass inside the body.
