What do you understand by the following?

"In the depth of the winter, I finally learnt that within me there lay invincible summers"

well...the sentence is a symbolic one....

"In the depth of the winter, I finally learnt that within me there lay invincible summers"...

Well what I understood is:

"In the depth of sorrows, I finally learnt that within me there lay invincible reasons for happiness"

OR

"In the depth of all my failures, I finally learnt that within me there lay invincible and infinite opportunities for success"..
