The paradox of induction:
- According to Mill and others, the law of natural uniformity is a formal premise for induction.
- All inductive generalizations are built on this foundation.
- We can't get from some to all, from known to unknown, from past to present, and then to a distant and unknown future unless we trust in this idea.
- In other words, the law justifies or ensures the transition from a specific case to a general rule.
