Good conductors are substances that conducts heat easily while non- conductors or insulators are substances that do not conduct heat . Metals and stone are considered to be good conductors since they can speedily transfer heat whereas materials like wood, air, paper are poor conductors called as insulators.

Like, Metals are good conductors of heat because their particles are tightly packed so the vibrations are passed on quickly where as in non-metals are poor conductors of heat because their particles are loosely packed so the vibrations do not passed on quickly.
