Calcination is the heating of an Ore to a high temperature up-to it's boiling point in the presence of excess of air or oxygen...

Example : CaCO3 > CaO+CO2

when Calcium carbonate is heated in the presence of excess of air at high temperature, it gives calcium oxide and carbon dioxide.
