An electric current is a flow of electric charge. In electric circuits this charge is often carried by moving electrons in a wire. It can also be carried by ions in an electrolyte, or by both ions and electrons such as in a plasma.

The SI unit of current is ampere. 1 ampere is the constant current that will produce an attractive force of 2 × 10^−7 newton per metre of length between two straight, parallel conductors of infinite length and negligible circular cross section placed one metre apart in a vacuum.

Hey mate!

Here is your answer

Electric current is defined as the rate of flow of electric charge. Or, electric current is the amount of charge flowing through a particular area in unit time and is given by: I = Q / t. The S.I unit of electric current is Ampere (A).

Hope it helps!

Have a good day!
