What do you understand by the term fundamental duties as given in our constitution

Fundamental duties were added on to, as the 42 nd amendment in the year 1976 in the Indian constitution to propagate unity , proper upkeep of the public properties, protection of the environment, respect to the national symbol, preserve and cherish the Heritage of a country and abdicate violence besides several other duties.
Rights come with responsibilities and when the constitution of India has ensured the fundamental rights of every citizen, it is but natural that such rights and freedom are not abused . Fundamental duties enshrined in constitution are an attempt in that direction....
