A fuse is the safety device which is added to an electric circuit .It ensures that a electric circuit is not short circuited . If an undesirable amount of current flows through then it melts and helps in preventing short circuit .

It consists of a piece of wire made of appropriate melting point like aluminium, copper, iron, lead, etc.
