The term 'pollution' refers to a situation in the environment when an amount of any harmful substance or any form of energy is put into the environment at a rate that is faster than the rate of it being dispersed.

Types of Pollution:

  1. Water Pollution: Water pollution is caused when waste is dispersed into the water. This waste usually includes plastic, harmful waste of factories etc.
  2. Air Pollution: In this kind of pollution, the air in the environment becomes harmful for breathing and is filled with pollutants such as smoke.
  3. Land Pollution: It refers to the deterioration of the land surfaces of the earth, on the ground and below ground level.

Effects of Pollution:

  1. The long term effects of the pollution include heart diseases, lung cancer and even birth defects.
  2. The aquatic life also gets affected by the contaminated water and it leads to the dirtying of water bodies.

The pollution is rising and is, therefore, a concern in the present time. There has to be combined efforts to make the environment clean.
