The term 'pollution' refers to a situation in the environment when an amount of any harmful substance or any form of energy is put into the environment at a rate that is faster than the rate of it being dispersed.
Types of Pollution:
- Water Pollution: Water pollution is caused when waste is dispersed into the water. This waste usually includes plastic, harmful waste of factories etc.
- Air Pollution: In this kind of pollution, the air in the environment becomes harmful for breathing and is filled with pollutants such as smoke.
- Land Pollution: It refers to the deterioration of the land surfaces of the earth, on the ground and below ground level.
Effects of Pollution:
- The long term effects of the pollution include heart diseases, lung cancer and even birth defects.
- The aquatic life also gets affected by the contaminated water and it leads to the dirtying of water bodies.
The pollution is rising and is, therefore, a concern in the present time. There has to be combined efforts to make the environment clean.
