Answer: The stone stage is a prehistoric period when the early men lived on earth. A prehistoric period  is a period of time recorded before history.

The period is divided into three stages ;

a. The Paleolithic stage [or the old stone stage]: This is the period from the first production of stone artefacts, about 2.5 million years ago, to the end of the last Ice Age, about 9,600 BCE.

b. The Mesolithic period: This period begins at the end of the Ice Age, about 9,600 BCE, and it ends when agriculture starts.

c. Neolithic or New stone stage: This period begins with the introduction of crop farming and the domestication of animals.
