Indicators-

Indicators are the dyes that change their colour in acidic and basic medium verifying the nature of the solution ; for example- litmus solution.

There are two types of indicators-

1) Natural Indicators -These indicators are obtained from nature ; for example- litmus solution, turmeric, etc.

2)Synthetic indicators-  These indicators are created artificially in laboratory; for example- methyl orange, phenolphthalein, etc.

⇒Methyl orange is orange in nature.

In acidic solution colour changes to red.

In basic solution, colour changes to yellow.

⇒Phenolphthalein is colourless in nature.

In acidic solution,it remains colourless.

In basic solution, colour changes to light pink.
