Unit of electrical  energy is defined as the energy spent or used by electrical appliance at the rate of 1 kw

For (t) hours

                         

                                1 kwh = 1000 W *3600s

                                = 3.6 * 10^6 Ws

                               1 W = 1 joule/1 second

                               1 unit = 1 kwh = 3.6* 10^6 J*s

                               1 unit = 3.6*10^ J

for 400 units,

                              400 units= 400* 3.6*10^6 J

                                            = 144*10^7 J
