What do you understand by work done by a force and work done against the force?Give one example of each.

work done by Force..... when we apply force
eg....pulling chair

work done against force..... gravitational force
when we throw something up

Here is example ..in which gravity is force which doing work against force...you applied

Work done is defined as product of the force and the distance over which the force is applied. Work is done when a force is applied to an object and the object is moved through a distance. For example, when you lift a load you are applying a force over a distance so you are doing work....but gravity is against your force
