Nervous tissue contains highly specialised unit cells called Nerve cells or neurons.
Neurons Have the ability to receive stimuli from within or outside the body and send impulses (signals) to different parts of the body. The impulse travel from one neuron to another neuron.

Each neuron has the following three parts:

1. The cell body or cyton which contains an Centre nucleus and cytoplasm with characteristic deeply stained particles , called Nissl's granules (clumps of ribosomes).

2. The dendrons which are short processes arising from the cyton and further branching into dendrites.

3. The Axon which is a single, long cylindrical process of uniform diameter. It forms fine branches terminally. Each such twig like branch of axon ends in a swollen structure called synaptic knob or bouton. Bouton contains acetylcholine filled vesicles. Acetylcholine (ACh) is an important neurotransmitter. Axon is also called nerve fibre.

Function:

The dendrites receive impulses and the axon take impulses away from the cell body (cyton).

\red {HELLO\:DEAR}

A neuron consists of a cell body witha nucleus and cytoplasm.

It has two important extensions known as the axon and dendrites.

An axon is a long thread-like extension of nerve cells that transmits impulses away from the cell body.

Dendrites, on the other hand, are thread-like extensions of cell body that receive nerve impulses.

Thus, the axon transmits impulses away from the cell body, whereas the dendrite receives nerve impulses.

This coordinated function helps in transmitting impulses very quickly.
