Amanda yearns for solitude and the peace and freedom that come with it.

She desperately wants freedom and peace and feels that she can have it only if her mother leaves her alone. Since that is not possible in her current life, she imagines a parallel world wherein she is completely on her own. She pictures herself as an orphan, a mermaid and even as Rapunzel. All these three characters lead solitary (alone) lives without interacting with any(o)ne. Achieving their level of peace seems to be the aim of Amanda's life.
