When athlete is running in a race he uses more energy than usual And get tired and his body needs to give more energy so his heart beats fast as lungs also need to work fast so  athlete breaths faster and deeper than usual

When the athlete runs in the race, his body needs more energy.

An athlete needs to supply extra energy to his muscle cells which have worked hard during running.

For this, he breathes faster and deeper so that more oxygen is supplied to the cells.
