HEY MATE ✌✌✌

The diary entries mention about the high prices of food items, as well the shortage and black marketing of food items by the locals. Special mention about the fact that they are not able to get potatoes regularly due to Mr van Hoevan's arrest for hiding Jews in his house. The quality of the remaining food was also poor and they were forced to eat rotten Vegetables. Teh weather has become very hot, which affects their mood.

The second world war had a great effect on the price of food items and other essential. There was a lot of inflation in the market which made the price of basic necessities rise. Everyone started trading on teh black market. Every shopkeeper had something unique to offer. Jews who were hiding had to resort to the black market for everyday stuff. The milkman was offering ration books from the black market while a shopkeeper was selling cheese at very high price. A pound of tea cost 350 guilders, half a pound of coffee 80 guilders, a pound of butter 35.00 guilders and one egg 1.45 guilders.

^_^^_^ HOPE IT HELPS ^_^^_^
