why they are called connective tissue

Bone and cartilage don't exactly connect anything... rather their connections are required to maintain coordination and structure and posture of the body. The make the skeletal framework of the body and ensure that the internal organs remain in place and prevent collapse of the body. their main function is to maintain and support the body. As for blood, it basically connects the entire body to the entire body. They are responsible for transport of various substances throughout.

They are classified under connective tissue because they share components like mast cells ect.
