ANSWER :-

Chromosomes are condensed and coiled chromatin fibres. The two constituents of Chromosomes are :-

  • DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid - about 40%)
  • Histones ( A special protein - about 60%)

The most important function of chromosomes is to carry the basic genetic material – DNA. DNA provides genetic information for various cellular functions. These functions are essential for growth, survival, and reproduction of the organisms.

The function of chromosomes it to transfer genetical materials to offspring. the chromosomes contains chromatin material which contains genes and genes also has its own genetically material known as DNAs.
