A cyclone is a storm that includes the flow of warm, high-pressure air and cooler, low-pressure air. This flow of air induces a circumrotation that pulls up momentum and builds a funnel.

Cyclones just form above bodies of warm water. Heated, humid air raising is what starts the cyclonic process. The twisting air rises above and reduces in temperature, thereby building clouds and leading to precipitation.

The cooler air from other regions replaces the warm air. This air warms and becomes moist as well, letting it rise — the additional cool air races in to fill the void.
