dot product represents scalar quantity

esha129: Yeah but cross product gives area likewise what dot product give?
SirSumit: it gives the projection of one vector over another. so it only tells about the length of projection
esha129: Thanks
SirSumit: you are welcome

If two vectors are orthogonal (90 degrees on one another) they are 'not at all the same' (dot product =0), and if they are parallel they are 'very much the same'. If you divide their dot product by the product of their magnitude, that is the argument for a cosine-function to find the angle between them.

hope it helps u
