Fire and Ice is a beautiful poem which shows what will happen in the Earth if all human is grown in hatred and selfishness. Here Fire is used to symbolize  the desires of human being. He is telling that the world may be end because of hatred[ which is symbolized by ice] or in desires. So we should leave both this from our life. Otherwise it would be grown as a very critical problem later. There are many people in this world who support both these. Some believe hatred is the real problem and some believe desires create more problem. But poet didn't stands with anyone because he is telling that both are true..
