What does increase in gray matter in the brain mean?

Answer:

Gray matter constitutes the major part of the brain. It consists of neuronal parts that are not coated by the myelin sheath and hence have grey colour ( the part coated with the myelin sheath has white colour). An increase in gray matter can basically be described as an increase in the nervous tissue or neurons. If the gray matter is increased (and that it does when a person is growing) it means that the individuals ability of thinking and understanding increases.
