Basically people tend to face cultural and communication barriers. One such barrier which exists among different groups of people is that of language gap.

Language gap generally refers to the problems people face in the decoding of messages transmitted by a party.

When people do not understand clearly, then it leads to a gap widening.

For example: A tells B something, 'A' encodes the message and 'B' decodes that message. If they share the same language then that leads to common understanding.

However, if there is a language barrier among the 2 entities then that widens the gap and leads to the lack of communication. 'A' wouldn't be able to understand 'B'. This would further increase the level of understanding and ability to decode a certain message.
