What does it mean by "The universal solvent properties of water allow solutes
such as glucose and electrolytes to be transported
through the plasma membranes into cells for biochemical
reactions."
Can someone simplify it? I don't get it

In very simple terms , water is called as universal solvent as water can dissolve most of the substance in it.
