An obligatory enlistment of service in the military forces or armed
forces is technically defined as conscription or drafting. In layman
terms, it is to capture and force others to serve in army. Modern
conscription dates back to the French Revolution in the 1790s from where
it spread to Europe and other parts of the world. Traditionally it was
restricted to men only. At present, it is prevalent in third world
countries like Algeria, Angola, Azerbaijan, Chile, Colombia, Cuba,
Cyprus, Equador, Egypt, Iran, Israel, North & South Korea, Mexico,
Maldova, Seychelles, Singapore, Syria, Thailand, UAE, Venezuela.
