The Above Question is extracted from a story by R.K. Narayan named "A Horse and Two Goats"

The word 'Kritam' in Tamil means "coronet" or "crown".

According to the author,

Kritam is a village represented with a microscopic dot on Indian Map i.e. a very very small village just comprising of less than 30 houses.

I think R.K. Narayan wants to mean by the word "kritam" that the Village despite being so small Has such a grand name "CROWN". By this reference he wants to show the Irony (Contradiction) between the name and reality of the Village.

To explain it's like ऊँची दुकान फीके पकवान |

Helo friend !
Here's ur answer!
In the story The horse and 2goats by Rk narayan, kritam was probably the tiniest among the seven hundred thousand villages dottingthe map of India, and was indicated by a microscopic dot. It's size didn't prevent its giving itself the grandiose name kritam which meant in Tamil "coronet "or " crown" in the brow of this subcontinent.
