mrs. jordan makes the comment 'fatal mistake' after listening to the events that led to the death of their father. mrs. slater tells that Dr. Pringle who treated their father wasn't available and therefore he died unattended by the doctor. it was this that mrs. Jordan describes as 'a fatal mistake'. according to her, their father could have been revived, had mrs.slater sent for another doctor.
