This poem is based on three ideas:home, isolation, man and the natural world.

The poet was living in noisy and congested city but longs to go and spend time in lake island.

The chipping of crickets in the morning used to welcome the poet. During his childhood, his cottage was surrounded by buzzing bees, moving to and from its hive. It was a sight to behold for him, to see the linnets flying in multitudes in the evening sky. Millions of stars twinkling in the clear night sky used to fill him with joy. The lapping of the waves on the island shore used to entertain him all day and night. The poet desired to be independent and wanted to live alone in peace with nature.

He recalls each day with fond memories and he says that he can hear every sound of his past echo in the core of his heart.

Hope it helped!!!
