Odysseus is the protagonist of the play who is brave, and compassionate towards his people and his kingdom. In the play, he fought against the other Kings at Troy. After the war, he struggles to return to his home to Ithaca. During his way of return, he witnesses many hurdles and hardships. Using his cunning techniques, he tricks Cyclops and helps his people and himself to escape from his cave. According to Greek mythology, a hero must possess some of the qualities so as to be extraordinary. Perseverance is one of the qualities which a Greek hero must possess. It is a quality by which the hero meets the challenges in his journey but still maintains his position by facing them. The excerpt shows the presence of supernatural elements and the invocation of muse in it. Odysseus's journey which was full of difficulties and hurdles are also significant in the excerpt.
