Through the poem, the poet gives out the message that it is extremely important to take care of one's teeth. Though it might seem insignificant and bothersome but one should regularly brush and floss to keep one's teeth clean. Moreover, the need to put a stop at excessive candy eating has also been focussed at. The sweets sure are delicious to eat however, eating them excessively and on a daily basis  leads to rotting and decaying of teeth which further results into enduring tooth-ache and painful procedures to mend the damages done. Thus, the poet draws attention to the importance to dental healthcare and keeping a check on what one eats.
