Hyy XD

The term polarization means the bond formation between two polar atoms. For example : when a hydrogen atom combined with a chlorine atom the polar chlorine atom makes the non polar hydrogen atom into polar molecule under dipole-induced forces. This combination is known as polarization.

Polarisation is the distortion of electron clouds.

  • Distortion of electron cloud of the negatively charged ion by the positively charged ion is called Polarization.
  • Smaller the size of ion, more it can distort the electron cloud of other. Hence, more is the polarization.
  • Polarization can be explained by the fajan's rule.
  • For example, aluminium ion cause the high polarization of a particular anion than sodium ion, due to small size and high charge with respect to sodium ion.
