Rainwater mixes with ground water and increases the level of the water table.
EXPLANATION:
When rain water falls on the ground it percolates through the ground. Depending on the permeability of the soil the rain water seeps through to the depth permeable and mixes with the ground water.
Together with the ground water it tries to flow towards the nearest water body to release the building pressure. If water bodies are not present the rain water gets accumulated with the ground water. This contributes in raising the water table. In rain water harvesting this water is utilised for consumption.
